free online Writers happiness Retreat
September 11-13, 2020
Join me and other writers in a free, communal writing weekend, Friday evening through Sunday lunch (with an optional Friday daytime component). You are welcome to attend for all or just parts here and there, whatever works for your time, brain, or life right now.
The idea behind this writing retreat is simple: commmunity and time. Time to write, to brainstorm, to clear your psychic space from distractions. To sit with your manuscript. To revise. To remember why you love this. To finish something. To start something. To feel refreshed. To be supported. To remember that your writing matters in the midst of all of this, and that it’s also totally okay if it’s not coming easily at the moment.
There are no critiques, no readings, no workshops. Just a chance to work on or think about your project in a supportive community of other writers working on and thinking about their projects as well. I’ll also be leading optional writer-centric yoga and guided meditations. All writers of anything are welcome, whether it’s a book or a blog, a dissertation or a business plan.

The retreat structure will be much the same as the in-person Splendid Mola retreats, with an opening and closing circle, plenty of writing time, optional yoga and meditation for writers, and optional shared meals.

Friday, September 11
OPTIONAL EARLY START ACTIVITIES:
9 – 10 am: Online Breakfast meet-up with small group “tables,” i.e. Zoom breakout rooms.
10 am – 12 pm: Writing time
12 – 12:30 pm: Gentle Yoga for Writers
12:45 – 1:45 pm: Online Lunch Meet-up with small group “tables,” i.e. Zoom breakout rooms.
1:45 – 5 pm: Writing time
OFFICIAL START OF THE RETREAT:
5 – 6 pm: Opening circle
6 – 7 pm: Optional small group dinner “tables” (4-5 people per “table,” also known as “Zoom breakout rooms”)
7 pm – onward: Whatever best serves you: write, chill, sleep. Or, hang out and chat with the other writers at your dinner table.
Saturday, September 12
8 – 9 am: Intermediate Vinyasa Flow Yoga for writers
9:15 – 10:10 am: Optional small-group breakfast “tables”
10:10 – 10:30 am: Guided meditation for writers
10:30 am onward: writing time!
5:15 – 6:15 pm: Gentle/Restorative/ Beginning Yoga for writers
6:30 – 7:30 pm: Optional small-group dinner “tables”
7:30 – 8:30 pm: Writers’ Cocktail/Dessert/Coffee hour. Grab your favorite beverage and snacks and come hang out!
Sunday, September 13
9 – 9:30 am: Gentle Morning Yoga (30 minutes)
9:30 am – 12 pm: writing time!
12 – 1:30 pm: Lunch and Closing Circle
